The retro-facing Sonic the Hedgehog game, Sonic Mania, has been announced as coming to Nintendo Switch. The game was previously only announced for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Sonic Mania joins the still untitled Project 2017, which was announced for Nintendo’s next platform in July.

Sonic Mania is an indie project from Christian Whitehead, PagodaWest Games, and Headcannon developed in collaboration with Sega and Sonic team that brings Sonic back to his roots with 2D gameplay and pixel graphics. The title remixes classic stages and introduces new zones for Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails to play through. Sonic Mania is currently scheduled to release this spring.
